Collierville, TN – 9/8/17 – David Pickler, Founder of the American Public Education Foundation, received Honorable Mention for philanthropic excellence in the eleventh annual Invest in Others Awards.
The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation established its awards program to recognize the charitable work of financial advisors and financial services firms in communities across the country and around the world.
Financial advisors are nominated by their peers for actively giving back to non-profits to improve their communities and make a difference in the lives of others. Hundreds of inspirational nominations for the Invest in Others Awards were received this year and reviewed by a diverse panel of leaders in the financial services industry. Those earning Honorable Mention were selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a non-profit and the community it serves.
“Doing well by doing good” is the guiding ethos of Pickler Wealth Advisors founder David A. Pickler, Esq., ChFC®, CFP®. An impassioned public schools advocate, Pickler — a past president of the National School Boards Association and a long-time school board leader for the Shelby County school district — has long championed the interests of K-12 youth in the state of Tennessee and across the U.S. Building upon his NSBA presidency - where notably he created a 5 million strong “Army of (Public Education) Advocates” and led a successful celebrity-driven pro-public schools national campaign, “Stand Up 4 Public Schools” - Pickler launched the American Public Education Foundation (hereafter, the Foundation). A national 501(c)(3) focused on inspiring K-12 youth, one child at a time, the Foundation launched on December 3, 2014.
Open to all public education advocates at no cost, the Foundation hosts service learning initiatives centered on character development, civic engagement and global citizenship. In its next chapter, Pickler will undertake a new focus, financial literacy, to help America’s next generation develop sound money management practices, entrepreneurial skills, and the personal discipline that support lifelong financial literacy, security and independence.
The eleventh annual Invest in Others Awards Gala, a premier event attended by over 500 financial advisors and financial services executives, is September 28, 2017 in New York City. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Catalyst, Community Service, Global Community Impact, Volunteer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, and Corporate Philanthropy.
About the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation
